Tolletts Chapel History

Tolletts Chapel, now a Global Methodist Church, began its story in 1905. Reverend Samuel Tollett, a Methodist Preacher, brought together a small group of families to begin a Methodist church in the Tabor Loop area just north of Crossville on Highway 127. The congregation quickly erected its first church building near the old Tabor School. The church was constructed with rough lumber from a neighboring mill. The one room structure was heated (somewhat) with a large wood stove in the center of the building. The first church building served the congregation well as a place for worship meetings, church school, training meetings, prayer meetings, revivals, and other gatherings.A new church building was constructed there on the 95 Tabor Loop site in 1927. That church building has been expanded and renovated. You can see the present blue-roofed church building from Hwy 127.

The church is still marked by the spiritual fervor of the Methodist movement that was at our beginning in 1905. Generations of local families have found faith and fellowship at Tolletts Chapel, and have been strengthened in Christ to witness and serve others in the name of Jesus. Tolletts Chapel participates in local and worldwide mission as we seek to reach others in their places of need with the Love of our Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit.
